Hypertriglyceridemia in Gout.
نویسندگان
چکیده
THE incidence of arteriosclerosis is reported to be greater in patients with gout than in control groups. In one study of 280 individuals with gout, 39 per cent had clinical or electrocardiographic evidence -of cardiovascular disease and 45 per cent had hypertension.' Severe involvement of the coronary or cerebral vessels and marked renal arteriosclerosis are major factors in producing death in patients with gout.2 Conversely, hyperuricemia is more frequent in patients with essential hypercholesteremia 3 or with coronary artery disease 5 6 than in normal persons. The mechanism underlying these relationships is obscure. There has been recent emphasis on the association of hypertriglyceridemia and coronary heart disease.7 The present study was performed to evaluate the relation between the levels of circulating triglycerides and other complex lipids in patients with gout in comparison to an appropriate control group.

Polymorphisms of uric transporter proteins in the pathogenesis of gout in a Chinese Han population.
In this study, we analyzed single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in urate transporter genes to examine the pathogenesis of gout. We conducted a 1:1-matched case-control study that included 110 patients with acute gout attacks as the patient group and 110 healthy age- and gender-matched subjects as the control group. Clinical parameters were recorded and blood biochemistry tests were conducted f...
متن کاملContemporary epidemiology of gout in the UK general population
INTRODUCTION The objective of this study was to investigate the contemporary incidence of gout, examine potential risk factors, and evaluate specific gout treatment patterns in the general population. METHODS Using the health improvement network (THIN) UK primary care database, we estimated the incidence of gout based on 24,768 newly diagnosed gout patients among a cohort of 1,775,505 individ...
متن کاملSecondaryHypertriglyceridemiand Hyperlipoproteinemiain Patientswith PrimaryAsymptomaticGout
We carefully selected 30 men withprimary gout, rendered asymptomatic by therapy, to examine the frequency and type of hyperlipidemia and hyperlipoproteinemia, with the objective of determining whether serum uric acid, alcohol intake, liver function, kidney function, and (or) drugs were participating in the secondary lipid disorder. Sixty-one ageand sex-matched men were used as controls. About 7...
متن کاملFamily study of lipid and purine levels in gout patients and analysis of mortality.
A family study was performed to determine whether the hypertriglyceridaemia associated with gout is present in families of gout patients or simply due to their life-style. The study revealed hypertriglyceridaemia in gout patients, reflected by hyperprebetalipoproteinaemia and with reciprocal reduction in the proportion of beta-lipoprotein. These abnormalities were not seen in first-degree relat...
متن کاملFamilial hyperuricaemia and hypertriglyceridaemia.
An association of gout with elevated levels of plasma lipids is well documented (Barlow, 1968; Berkowitz, 1964; Feldman and Wallace, 1964). Conversely, patients with primary hyperlipoproteinaemia often have a raised plasma urate (Harris-Jones, 1957) and occasionally develop secondary gout (Strejcek and Kucerova, 1969). The mechanism of this interrelationship is not known but, as there is also e...
